04 Sep 2020 Census Community Enrollment Events Being Held at Navajo Nation Gaming Casino Locations
Navajo Nation Membership are Encouraged to Participate and Enroll
Flagstaff, Ariz. – The Navajo Nation’s 2020 Census Office, in partnership with the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise (Navajo Nation Gaming) are co-hosting several Community Enrollment Events at Navajo Gaming casino locations in order to boost participation in the 2020 Census. The census is tied to billions of dollars in federal funding as well as representation in Congress.
*At stake in the Census are billions in federal funding and representation in Congress. In 2016, Arizona got more than $20.5 billion in federal funding based on numbers from the 2010 Census – roughly $3,000 per Arizonan, according to a study last month by University of Arizona Associate Professor Jason Jurjevich last month.
But Jurjevich said Native Americans are historically undercounted, with an estimated 30,000 American Indian and Alaska Natives excluded in the 2010 count.
“Native Americans, as of 2010, those living on reservations have the highest undercount percentage,” Jurjevich said.
Navajo Gaming will be hosting the following events at properties in New Mexico and Arizona. All events provide the option to either drive through and or sit with a representative to complete the census questionnaire. Event attendees may also enjoy a free lunch while they respond to the census questionnaires and are reminded to wear a mask.

Navajo Nation Gaming will be adhering to Navajo Nation Health guideline and also using all CDC guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at each event.
Attendees should bring the packet which was either mailed to them and/or left at their home during the month of June. This packet contains a Household Census Number, please DO NOT confuse this with a Tribal Census number.
